7 questions, then your details

First, a few quick questions about the accident itself.

Were you injured in a motor vehicle accident?

A physical injury or ongoing pain both count.

When did the accident happen?

As specific as you can be. If you don't remember the exact day, say so below.

What state did it happen in?

The state where the crash happened — not where you live, if those are different.

Did you receive medical treatment?

An ambulance, an emergency room, urgent care, a doctor, or a chiropractor all count.

Was someone else at fault?
Are you currently represented by an attorney?
Have you accepted a settlement?
Who should the attorney ask for?

We share your name with the representative who reviews your answers.

Where can an attorney reach you?

Attorneys are licensed state by state, so we use this to find one who can practise where you are.

What phone number should we use?

A representative uses this number to follow up about your request.

Sending your request

Finalizing your answers and preparing them for review.

Your request is in

Your answers are in, and a representative may call the number you gave to go over them before any independent attorney or law firm makes their own determination.

Someone may call you from a number you do not recognize. That will be a representative following up on this request.

Thank you for your time

How it works

Three steps, and no surprises in between

  1. You answer seven questions

The form asks the same seven questions a representative would ask on the phone: whether you were injured, when and where the accident happened, whether you were treated, who was at fault, and whether an attorney or a settlement is already involved. Your name, address and phone number come last.

  2. A representative reviews your answers

A representative reads what you submitted and may call the number you gave to go over it with you. They can ask follow-up questions about anything that was unclear. They do not decide your claim.

  3. An attorney makes their own determination

If your information reaches an independent attorney or law firm, they decide for themselves whether to review it and whether to go further. No attorney or law firm is obligated to review or accept any claim.

What this page is for

Crashes people start a review for

This list describes what the page is about. It is not a checklist, and nothing on it decides whether an attorney reviews a claim.

  • Rear-end collisions

Another driver hit you from behind, at a light, in slow traffic, or at a stop.

  • Intersection crashes

A crash at a light or a stop sign, or while a driver was turning across traffic.

  • Commercial truck crashes

A crash involving a semi, a box truck, a delivery van, or another vehicle driven for work.

  • Motorcycle and scooter crashes

A crash while you were riding a motorcycle, a scooter, or a moped.

  • Passenger and rideshare crashes

You were a passenger in a rideshare, a taxi, or someone else's vehicle.

  • Pedestrian and bicycle crashes

A vehicle struck you while you were walking or riding a bicycle.

Why time matters

Why waiting makes a claim harder to look at

  1. Every state limits how long someone has to bring an injury claim, and that limit is different in each state.

  2. Physical evidence does not keep. Skid marks fade, debris gets swept up, and damaged vehicles get repaired or sold.

  3. Witnesses change phone numbers and move away, and what they remember gets thinner as time passes.

  4. Insurance companies often ask for a recorded statement early, well before anyone has gone over the accident with you.

Nothing here is legal advice, and none of it is a deadline. Only an attorney licensed in your state can tell you what applies to you.

Questions

Before you start

Does this cost anything?

No. The form is free and GetLawyersNow never bills you. If an attorney or law firm later offers to take your claim, ask them how their fees work before you sign anything.

Are you a law firm?

No. GetLawyersNow is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We are a free service that connects people with independent attorneys and law firms who may review their accident claim.

What happens after I submit the form?

A representative reviews your answers and may call the number you gave to go over them. If your information reaches an independent attorney or law firm, that attorney decides for themselves whether to look at it.

Will I definitely get a lawyer?

No, and nobody on this page can tell you otherwise. Every attorney and law firm makes their own determination, and none of them is obligated to review or accept a claim.

Who sees my information?

A representative, and the independent attorneys and law firms we work with, so they can decide whether to follow up with you. The privacy policy sets out what is collected and who it is shared with.

What if I already have an attorney for this accident?

Then this is not the right fit. The form asks whether an attorney is already representing you for this accident, and it ends there if you say yes. We do not get between someone and the attorney already handling their claim.

What if I am not sure about some of the answers?

Most questions let you answer that you are not sure, and the date question takes an approximate time instead of an exact day. Being unsure does not end the form. It is recorded so a person can ask you about it.

Ready to have someone look at it?

Answer the questions, or call and a representative will walk through them with you.
